Residents of Delhi woke up to overcast skies on Sunday, with light rain reported in several parts of East and Northeast Delhi, including Dilshad Garden, Seemapuri, Seelampur, Shahdara, Vivek Vihar and Preet Vihar, along with nearby NCR areas like Hindon. The cloudy conditions are expected to continue through the day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city will experience generally cloudy weather with chances of very light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging between 20–30 km/h, with gusts up to 40 km/h.
Temperatures are expected to remain below normal for this time of the year. The maximum temperature is likely to stay between 30–32°C, while the minimum may hover around 17–19°C.
The IMD has indicated that similar weather conditions may persist on April 6, with another spell of cloud cover and light rainfall expected around April 7 and 8 due to a fresh western disturbance.
The impact of these back-to-back western disturbances is being felt across Northwest India, bringing rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and possible hailstorm activity in several regions. States such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab are likely to witness light to moderate rain along with lightning and winds reaching 40–60 km/h.
An orange alert has been issued for multiple districts, including Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Agra, Ambala, Panchkula, Chandigarh, Patiala, and SAS Nagar, warning of thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in the coming hours.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid sheltering under trees or weak structures, limit unnecessary travel, and stay updated with official advisories as weather conditions may change rapidly.
