A criminal case has been registered against popular Haryanvi folk singer Masoom Sharma following a controversial performance at a college cultural program. The FIR was lodged at the Dalanwala Police Station after allegations surfaced regarding the use of “objectionable and obscene” language during the event.

The incident reportedly took place on April 10, 2026, during a performance at DAV (PG) College in Dehradun. According to the complainant, Pranchal Nauni, Sharma’s remarks from the stage were not only inappropriate but deeply hurt the sentiments of the students and the general public in attendance.

Legal Charges and Investigation

The Dehradun Police have registered the case under FIR No. 63/2026. The singer faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), reflecting the gravity of the allegations:

  • Section 296: Pertaining to obscene acts and songs in public.
  • Section 79: Actions or words intended to insult the modesty of a woman.
  • Section 352: Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace.
  • Section 351(3): Criminal intimidation.

“Statutory legal proceedings will be carried out following a detailed investigation in accordance with the law,” a representative for the Dehradun Police confirmed.
