Iran said on Saturday that it is reviewing fresh proposals submitted by the United States, even as Tehran warned that its negotiators would not make any concessions during ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The announcement came from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, which confirmed that the proposals were delivered through mediation channels and are currently under examination.
“In recent days, with the presence of the commander of the Pakistani army in Tehran as an intermediary and mediator in the negotiations, new proposals have been put forward by the Americans, which the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently reviewing and has not yet responded to,” the council said in a statement carried by state media.
Pakistan Emerges As Key Mediator In US–Iran Talks
Pakistan has taken on a central diplomatic role in easing tensions between Tehran and Washington. The Pakistani military leadership has reportedly been actively facilitating dialogue between the two nations.
The mediation effort follows an initial round of talks hosted in Pakistan last week. Those discussions concluded without a formal agreement, but both sides agreed to continue exploring diplomatic options.
The council emphasised that Iran’s delegation “will not make even the slightest compromise, retreat or leniency, and will defend with all its strength the interests of the Iranian nation.”
Strait Of Hormuz Closure Escalates Pressure
The disclosure about the US proposals came shortly after Iran announced it was reimposing restrictions on shipping through the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran said the renewed closure was a response to the ongoing US naval blockade targeting Iranian ports.
“Iran is determined to enforce supervision and control over traffic through the Strait of Hormuz until the definitive end of the war,” the statement said.
Trump Warns Iran Against ‘Blackmail’
The latest developments prompted a sharp reaction from Donald Trump, who warned Iran against attempting to pressure Washington through maritime restrictions.
Trump cautioned Tehran not to use the Strait of Hormuz situation as leverage, describing any such move as unacceptable.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, handling a significant share of global oil and gas shipments.
Rising Stakes Amid Fragile Diplomacy
Iran’s decision to review new US proposals suggests that dialogue channels remain open, even as both nations continue to assert their positions on security and maritime access.
The outcome of these talks is expected to play a crucial role in determining whether the crisis stabilises or escalates further.
