India firmly rebuts allegations of targeting Pakistan’s nuclear facilities, reiterates its stance against nuclear blackmail and cross-border terrorism.
May 13, 2025: India on Tuesday firmly refuted any speculation around targeting Pakistan’s nuclear facility in Kirana Hills during the recent military engagement under Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that all Indian military actions remained strictly within the conventional warfare domain.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), addressed the media and clarified India’s position amid rumors circulating in international and social media regarding possible damage to Pakistan’s sensitive installations.
“Questions about aircraft, nuclear sites — those are for them to answer. From our side, the defence briefing was very clear,” said Jaiswal, responding to a question about alleged strikes on Pakistan’s nuclear infrastructure in the Kirana Hills region.
He reiterated that India’s strikes were precise, conventional, and targeted only terrorist infrastructure. Speculation that India had crossed any nuclear red lines were dismissed not only by India but, notably, by Pakistan’s own government, which reportedly denied the activation of its National Command Authority.
“The military action from our side was entirely in the conventional domain… Pakistan’s GM has denied such claims on record,” Jaiswal stated.
Addressing concerns of escalation and nuclear rhetoric, Jaiswal reaffirmed India’s policy of zero tolerance for nuclear blackmail and cross-border terrorism.
“India has made it clear to multiple countries that subscribing to nuclear escalation theories in response to counter-terror action could be destabilising — and hurt their own regional stability,” he warned.
India’s firm response comes amid global scrutiny following its precision strikes across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. The operation marked a significant doctrinal shift in India’s counter-terrorism posture, now referred to as the “new normal.”
