Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away in Lucknow on Wednesday at the age of 38. According to reports, he was brought dead to the hospital at around 6:15 am.
Prateek Yadav was the stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav and husband of Aparna Yadav. Police officials cited in reports said that he was brought to the hospital by family members, while Aparna Yadav was reportedly not present at the time.
Authorities have ordered a post-mortem examination at King George’s Medical University to ascertain the exact cause of death. Preliminary observations reportedly did not reveal any visible injury marks on the body.
Was Undergoing Treatment For Lung-Related Health Issues
According to reports, Prateek Yadav had been battling lung-related complications for a long time and was undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs. His condition reportedly worsened on Wednesday morning after he stopped responding, following which family members rushed him to the hospital.
Doctors later declared him brought dead.
Who Was Prateek Yadav?
Prateek Yadav was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife, Sadhna Gupta. Unlike several members of the influential Yadav family, he largely stayed away from active politics and focused on business ventures.
A well-known real estate developer and fitness enthusiast, Prateek had opened one of Lucknow’s prominent gyms in 2016. He was also known for his interest in animal welfare and was associated with initiatives related to the care and protection of animals.
He married Aparna Yadav in 2011, and the couple has two children.
Personal Life Had Recently Made Headlines
Earlier this year, reports about trouble in Prateek and Aparna Yadav’s marriage had surfaced publicly. In January, Prateek Yadav had shared an emotional social media post announcing plans to file for divorce. In the post, he accused Aparna Yadav of damaging family relationships and prioritising fame and influence.
His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through political and social circles in Uttar Pradesh, given the Yadav family’s long-standing influence in the state’s politics.
