Ro Khanna says he was unaware of guest list and reiterates opposition to RSS and Hindutva politics after Washington DC conference
April 26, 2026: US Congressman Ro Khanna has clarified that he does not support the RSS after his recorded video message was shown at an event in Washington DC organised by the Hudson Institute. Responding to criticism, Khanna said he was not aware of the guest list and stressed that his contribution was limited to a short video requested by the think tank.
The New India Conference brought together several political and policy figures, including RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, BJP foreign affairs in-charge Vijay Chauthaiwale, and former RSS national general secretary Ram Madhav. The event also saw participation from current and former US officials such as deputy assistant secretary of state for South Asia Bethany Morrison and former deputy secretary of state Kurt Campbell, highlighting its wide-ranging international presence.
Khanna, who is considered a potential candidate for the 2028 US presidential race, has repeatedly taken a stand against Hindutva ideology and called for pluralism in public life. He has previously argued that American politicians of Hindu faith must support equal rights for all communities and reject extremist politics. In response, RSS general secretary Hosabale said his US visit was aimed at engaging with global opinion makers and presenting the organisation’s work internationally.
