India asserts a strategic shift post-Operation Sindoor, warning Pakistan that it must adapt to the new doctrine of decisive counter-terrorism action.
May 13, 2025: India has declared a firm stance on counter-terrorism, reiterating that Operation Sindoor marks the beginning of a “new normal” in its strategic doctrine. In a sharp message directed at Pakistan, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Tuesday said,
“There is now a new normal. The sooner Pakistan gets used to it, the better.”
This response came following remarks from Pakistan’s Foreign Minister criticizing India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, a move widely interpreted as part of New Delhi’s broader diplomatic retaliation following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Jaiswal underlined the seriousness of India’s resolve, stating that a country “which has nurtured terrorism on an industrial scale” cannot expect to escape the repercussions of its actions.
“The terrorist infrastructure sites that India destroyed were responsible not only for the deaths of Indians but also of many other innocents around the world,” he said.
India’s strong reaction is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national address, where he emphasized that India will strike terror at its roots, wherever it originates—even across borders. The statement also comes days after India’s precise airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, followed by a calibrated ceasefire agreement.
