July 13, 2025: Weather Today – After days of hot and humid weather, the national capital woke up to much-needed rainfall on Sunday morning. Dark clouds loomed over Delhi-NCR as showers brought relief to residents and lowered temperatures across the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain alert at 10:00 a.m. via its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h.
According to the IMD, rain and storm activity are expected to impact several parts of Delhi-NCR and neighboring regions, including Gurugram, Manesar, Charkhi Dadri, Loharu, Kosali, Mahendragarh, Sohna, Rewari, Narnaul, Bawal, and Nuh in Haryana. In Rajasthan, areas such as Pilani, Bhiwadi, and Tizara have also been listed.
The alert further noted that light rainfall or drizzle, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is likely across several parts of Delhi and adjoining regions in Uttar Pradesh, including Modinagar, Pilakhua, and Hapur.
“Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorm and lightning (30–40 km/h gusty winds) is very likely to occur in NCR,” the IMD stated, cautioning residents and commuters to stay alert.
As the showers began across different localities, traffic movement slowed down in some parts of the city due to waterlogging and reduced visibility. However, the rain was widely welcomed by residents after a week of high humidity levels and rising temperatures.
Weather conditions are expected to remain similar throughout the day, with intermittent showers and overcast skies predicted for parts of Delhi-NCR.
