Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has engaged regional partners following the reported US-Iran peace understanding
June 15, 2026: A diplomatic push is gaining momentum in West Asia after reports of a peace understanding between the United States and Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate discussions with the foreign ministers of Turkey, Iraq and Egypt, outlining Tehran’s expectations from the agreement. According to Araghchi, Israeli military operations in Lebanon must come to a complete halt, and the responsibility for implementing the peace framework rests with the United States.
During the conversations, Araghchi thanked the three countries for their support throughout the negotiation process. The outreach is being viewed as part of Iran’s broader effort to build regional backing for the agreement and ensure its successful implementation. The reported deal is expected to contribute to regional stability, protect international trade routes and reduce the risk of further military escalation across West Asia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the understanding, describing it as a positive step towards restoring peace and stability in the region. He noted that the conflict had caused economic disruption and loss of life, while expressing hope that the agreement would secure freedom of navigation and global commerce. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly seeking a meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss the evolving agreement and its regional implications.
