Thousands Gather for Spiritual Ceremonies, Cultural Performances, and Expressions of Unity

Abu Dhabi [UAE], February 3: The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi witnessed a historic spiritual gathering as over 10,000 devotees celebrated its first ‘Patotsav’—the anniversary of its Pran Pratishtha (consecration of deities)—on Sunday. The grand festivities included traditional rituals, cultural performances, and heartfelt prayers, marking a year of faith, unity, and cultural harmony.

Dawn Rituals and Devotional Offerings

The day began before sunrise, with hundreds of devotees and volunteers gathering at 4 AM to prepare for the Mahapuja (sacred prayers). More than 1,100 participants took part in the ceremony at 6 AM, offering prayers in a deeply immersive spiritual atmosphere. The event uniquely blended technology and devotion, as special projections on the temple walls enhanced the experience of the rituals.

Volunteer Jigisha Joshi expressed her dedication, stating:

“I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve our community and offer devotion in this beautiful Mandir. Serving others is my way of offering gratitude to God.”

Vibrant Cultural Celebrations

The Nashik Dhol team from Maharashtra brought energy to the event with powerful drumming, leading a procession of Lord Swaminarayan from the Maha Abhishek Sthan to the temple’s central dome.

A recitation ceremony was held in the Grand Assembly Hall from 9 AM to 11 AM, where devotees chanted verses in honor of BAPS founder Shastriji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. The gathering of over 2,000 people also acknowledged UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for fostering a land of peace and cultural harmony.

Devotees were mesmerized by classical Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, and Marathi folk dances, along with renditions of Madhurashtakam.

Evening Aarti and Closing Blessings

As the sunset bathed the temple in golden hues, the Swaminarayan Ghaat transformed into a vibrant stage for a cultural spectacle. Devotees participated in Aarti at 6 PM, 7 PM, and 8 PM, offering prayers in gratitude.

BAPS Hindu Mandir head Brahmvihari Swami closed the celebrations with a special message:

“The BAPS Hindu Mandir has witnessed its first year filled with love, hope, and unity. It has won awards for its architectural splendor, but its greatest achievement is bringing people of all backgrounds together, fostering an inclusive and harmonious society.”

He expressed gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recognizing his generosity and unwavering support. He also thanked devotees, volunteers, and well-wishers for their contributions in making the Mandir a spiritual and cultural landmark.

A Year Since the Historic Inauguration

The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14, 2024, coinciding with Basant Panchami. Since then, the temple has become a symbol of peace, faith, and unity, attracting millions of devotees from across the world.

As the first traditional Hindu temple in the UAE, its Patotsav celebrations reaffirm its significance as a beacon of cultural harmony and spirituality, continuing to unite people through the universal values of love and devotion.
