The more powerful quake, measuring magnitude 5.7, hit near Laoag City in Ilocos Norte around 10:38 AM (local time). The epicenter was moderately shallow, making the tremor widely felt across the northern region.

Earlier in the day, at around 4:00 AM, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurred 185 km southeast of Sarangani, in the southern Philippines, with a depth of approximately 35 kilometers.

Both events were confirmed by seismic monitoring agencies, including the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), which continues to issue real-time updates and bulletins, especially for affected areas like Luzon where the stronger tremor was felt.
