Iran has issued a strong warning against Israel’s renewed military strikes on Lebanon, stating that continued aggression could render ongoing diplomatic negotiations meaningless. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the attacks as a clear violation of the existing ceasefire framework and questioned Israel’s commitment to peace efforts.
In a statement shared on social media, Pezeshkian described the strikes as a “dangerous sign of deception,” cautioning that any escalation would undermine fragile diplomatic progress. He further asserted that Iran remains firmly committed to supporting Lebanon, declaring that Tehran would not abandon its regional allies under any circumstances.
Echoing similar concerns, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, warned that repeated violations of the ceasefire would invite “strong responses.” He emphasised that Lebanon and allied groups form an integral part of the broader regional equation, and any disruption would have serious consequences.
The developments come amid rising tensions in West Asia, with Israel launching fresh strikes that have heightened fears of a broader escalation. Reports indicate that recent attacks have resulted in significant casualties, further complicating efforts to stabilise the region.
Despite the tensions, diplomatic channels remain active. Iranian officials are expected to engage in upcoming peace talks with a United States delegation, with meetings reportedly scheduled in Pakistan. However, the continuation of hostilities threatens to derail these efforts before meaningful progress can be achieved.
