Shahed-136 attack hits residential building as US–Israel–Iran war enters ninth day
March 8, 2026: The conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has entered its ninth day, with fresh reports of attacks across the Gulf region. In the latest development, Iran reportedly launched a drone strike in Bahrain, targeting a residential building. According to reports, the attack involved the Shahed‑136 drone, one of Iran’s most widely used loitering munitions.
Visuals circulating online showed the drone crashing into the building before exploding, triggering flames and thick smoke that lit up the surrounding area. Military analysts say Iran has increasingly relied on drone warfare during the conflict, with earlier reports also pointing to strikes targeting nearby Gulf nations such as Kuwait.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly expressed regret over attacks affecting neighbouring countries but said the strikes were a consequence of the ongoing war. At the same time, Donald Trump warned that the conflict could escalate further and suggested the war could reshape Iran’s future, as regional players including Oman push for diplomatic efforts to prevent further expansion of the conflict.
