The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claims responsibility for the attack on Jaffar Express, warning of “severe consequences” if the military intervenes.

March 11, 2025: In a major security crisis, armed militants belonging to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked a passenger train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, taking 182 hostages and allegedly killing 20 soldiers, according to a Reuters report. The militant group, which has long sought independence for Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the attack and warned that any rescue attempts by Pakistan’s military would result in executions.

The attack occurred on Tuesday as the Jaffar Express was en route from Quetta to Peshawar, passing through a mountainous region with 17 tunnels. Reports indicate that the militants bombed the railway tracks before storming the train, forcing it to halt at Tunnel Number 8.

1️⃣ BLA claims control over the train and warns of retaliation if the Pakistan military attempts a rescue.
