Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan visited India to promote his upcoming film The Odyssey, marking the first time he has launched one of his movies in the country. Nolan was joined by lead actors Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and producer Emma Thomas for a special fan event and screening in Mumbai.
The event gave Indian movie lovers a rare opportunity to interact with the acclaimed director, whose films enjoy a massive following in the country.
Christopher Nolan Says India Holds a Special Place
Addressing the audience after the screening, Nolan said although he has visited India before, this was his first time launching a film here.
He told fans they were among the first audiences in the world to watch The Odyssey.
“This is not my first time in India. But it is the first time to launch a film here. So, you’re amongst the first audiences in the world to see this film.”
Nolan has previously filmed portions of The Dark Knight Rises in Jodhpur and Tenet in Mumbai. He said every visit to India has been memorable.
“I’ve had the pleasure of filming here twice, once in Jodhpur and once in Mumbai. Every time I come here, it’s very special.”
The filmmaker also praised Indian audiences for their passion for cinema.
“For many years, I wanted to come here and launch one of our films and experience it with Indian audiences, who are some of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable cinematic audiences in the world. It’s such a thrill to be here.”
Nolan’s Surprise Question Leaves Fans Cheering
After asking the audience whether they enjoyed the film and receiving loud applause, Nolan surprised everyone with a light-hearted question.
He asked:
“Just a quick question: Who is better, Matt or Tom?”
The unexpected remark sparked laughter and loud cheers inside the theatre, while Matt Damon and Tom Holland smiled at the playful moment.
