Actor Dhanush and filmmaker Vetri Maaran have officially unveiled the first look of their upcoming Tamil film Thamizh Murugan. The poster was released on Friday and has already generated excitement among fans, marking another collaboration between one of Tamil cinema’s most successful actor-director duos.
The film is the fifth project that brings Dhanush and Vetri Maaran together after delivering several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films.
First Look Poster Reveals a Powerful Avatar
The first-look poster presents Dhanush in a striking appearance. He is seen riding an elephant while holding a vel, the sacred spear associated with Lord Murugan. Behind him stands a massive army, giving the poster an epic and historical feel.
The imagery used in the poster is deeply connected with Lord Murugan, who is widely worshipped in Tamil Nadu as Thamizh Kadavul, meaning the God of the Tamil people.

Although the makers have not revealed the storyline, the poster suggests that the film could feature themes rooted in Tamil culture, history or mythology.
Dhanush and Vetri Maaran Reunite Once Again
Thamizh Murugan marks the fifth collaboration between Dhanush and Vetri Maaran.
The duo previously worked together on Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran. All four films received praise from both audiences and critics, with Aadukalam and Asuran earning several prestigious awards.
Earlier, the team had announced Vada Chennai II: Anbuvin Ezhuchi. However, work on that sequel has not yet started, making Thamizh Murugan their next joint venture.

The story of Thamizh Murugan has been written by Arivumathi, while young composer Sai Abhyankkar will handle the film’s music.
So far, the makers have not announced the remaining cast members or the official release date.

Apart from Thamizh Murugan, Dhanush has several major projects in his lineup.

OM is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
