The juggernaut that is Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, shows no signs of slowing down. Even in its sixth week, the Ranveer Singh starrer continues to pull audiences to theaters, recording a massive 93.5% jump on Saturday.

On Day 38, the film earned ₹3 crore in the domestic market, bringing its total to unprecedented heights. Remarkably, despite a significant reduction in screen count to accommodate newer releases, the film comfortably outperformed the latest rom-com, Ginny Weds Sunny 2, which struggled with an earnings of just ₹87 lakh on its first Saturday.

The ₹3000 Crore Milestone: A Global Phenomenon

The Dhurandhar franchise has officially etched its name in cinematic history. Combined collections for the duology have now surpassed the ₹3000 crore mark at the global box office, as per reports from Sacnilk.

This makes it the first Indian film series to achieve such a staggering feat. The franchise’s success is attributed to its gritty portrayal of real-world geopolitics, weaving narratives around events like the IC-814 hijacking and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. With the first installment earning ₹1300 crore in late 2025, the sequel has elevated the “Ranveer-Aditya” duo to the pinnacle of Indian action cinema.

Record-Breaking OTT Deal with JioHotstar

As the theatrical run enters its final phase, the buzz has shifted to the digital premiere. In one of the most lucrative deals for a Hindi film to date, the OTT rights for Dhurandhar 2 have been acquired by JioHotstar for a whopping ₹150 crore. Breaking away from the first film’s association with Netflix, this strategic shift marks a significant move for Jio Studios. Fans can expect the high-octane thriller to arrive on their small screens by late May or early June 2026, following the standard two-month theatrical window.

What’s Next for the ‘Dhurandhar’ Universe?

Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the franchise has become a cultural touchstone for the spy-thriller genre in India. While there are whispers about a potential “Making of Dhurandhar” documentary being released in theaters, director Aditya Dhar remains focused on the film’s current momentum. With Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of an Indian spy navigating the criminal underbelly of Karachi receiving universal acclaim, the Dhurandhar universe has set a new benchmark for technical excellence and storytelling in Indian cinema.
