The Indian digital landscape is witnessing a seismic shift as Aditya Dhar’s high-octane thriller Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, joins the elite club of blockbuster OTT acquisitions.

In a deal that has sent ripples through the industry, the film’s domestic streaming rights have reportedly been secured by JioHotstar for a staggering ₹150 crore. This marks a significant jump from the first installment, which saw its rights acquired by Netflix for ₹85 crore, underscoring the massive growth in Ranveer Singh’s digital pull and the scale of the sequel.
Dual-Platform Strategy: Unseen Content and Global Reach
In a unique distribution move that has fans buzzing, Dhurandhar 2 will follow a split-platform release strategy. While JioHotstar will be the exclusive home for the film in India, Netflix has retained the rights for international audiences.

Adding to the excitement, reports suggest that the OTT version will not just be a digital replica of the cinema release; instead, viewers will get to see a “Raw and Unseen” cut. This extended version is expected to include deleted scenes and uncensored footage that were not part of the theatrical run, offering a more gritty and immersive experience.
‘Dhurandhar 2’ Ranks Among the All-Time Greats
While ₹150 crore is a monumental figure, it lands Dhurandhar 2 in the company of some of Indian cinema’s biggest historical earners. Topping the charts remains the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, which fetched a combined ₹375 crore across platforms, and SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which commanded ₹325 crore for its digital and satellite bundle.
Other heavyweights include KGF Chapter 2 (₹320 crore) and the highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule (₹275 crore). As Dhurandhar 2 prepares for its digital premiere, it solidifies Aditya Dhar’s vision as a powerhouse in the modern cinematic and streaming era.
