Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans may witness a significant change in the show’s narrative if recent media reports are to be believed. According to the reports, the makers are planning to reduce actor Dilip Joshi’s screen time and gradually shift the spotlight away from Jethalal’s storyline to focus on a newly introduced family in Gokuldham Society. However, the show’s makers have not officially confirmed these claims.
Dilip Joshi, who plays the iconic character of Jethalal, has remained the central pillar of the sitcom ever since Disha Vakani, who portrayed Dayaben, stepped away from the show. With Dayaben absent for several years, Jethalal and the Gada family have continued to drive the show’s major storylines and remain among its biggest attractions.
As per the reports, the makers now intend to focus more on the recently introduced Rajasthani family, which joined the show earlier this year. The family comprises Ratna Singh Binjola, played by Kuldeep Gor, his wife Roopa, portrayed by Dharati Bhatt, and their two children. In the sitcom, Ratna owns a saree shop, and the family has gradually become part of Gokuldham Society’s everyday life.
Reports further suggest that the decision is being considered because the audience has responded positively to the new family’s storyline. The makers are reportedly exploring fresh narratives around these characters while reducing the emphasis on Jethalal’s track. However, neither producer Asit Kumarr Modi nor the production team has commented on the speculation so far.
Meanwhile, the absence of Disha Vakani continues to remain one of the biggest talking points among TMKOC fans. The actress went on maternity leave in 2018 and has not returned to the show since. In an earlier interview, creator Asit Kumarr Modi acknowledged that balancing work and family responsibilities can be challenging and indicated that Disha’s return appears unlikely.
At the same time, Asit Kumarr Modi had expressed hope that circumstances might change in the future. He also stated that if Disha Vakani is ultimately unable to return, the production team may eventually introduce a new actress to portray the beloved character of Dayaben. Until an official announcement is made, the reports regarding Dilip Joshi’s reduced screen presence remain unconfirmed.
