Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar is reportedly being considered for a special acting role in Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming film based on legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath. The project has already created excitement as it marks Gowariker’s reunion with Aamir Khan more than two decades after their iconic film Lagaan.

Film Based On Cricket Legend Lala Amarnath

Set during the Partition era, the film will reportedly chronicle the life and legacy of Lala Amarnath, independent India’s first cricket captain and the player who scored India’s first-ever Test century in 1933.

While Farhan Akhtar is already attached to the project as one of the producers, reports suggest he may also appear onscreen in an emotionally significant role.

According to reports, Farhan is being considered to portray a renowned Pakistani cricketer who shares a close friendship with Lala Amarnath. The role is said to be an extended cameo that plays a crucial emotional part in the narrative.

The story reportedly explores friendship and human relationships during the turbulent period of Partition, going beyond cricket to highlight emotional and historical conflicts between the two nations.

Sources claim that Ashutosh Gowariker has personally approached Farhan for the role, although the casting has not been officially finalised yet.

The upcoming film has already generated major buzz due to the reunion between Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker after more than 20 years. Their previous collaboration, Lagaan, became one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated sports dramas and earned international acclaim.

With Farhan Akhtar’s possible casting now making headlines, curiosity around the project has increased further among Bollywood fans.

Don 3 Controversy Continues

Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar has also been in the spotlight because of the ongoing controversy surrounding Don 3 and actor Ranveer Singh.

Reports suggest that Farhan approached the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) after Ranveer’s abrupt exit from the film. Following the complaint, the film body allegedly issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor.

Farhan, who co-owns Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani, has reportedly sought compensation worth Rs 45 crore over losses allegedly incurred during the pre-production phase of Don 3.
