American fitness influencer and YouTuber Connor Murphy has died at the age of 32 after his body was recovered from a lake in Thailand. Authorities believe the influencer drowned, though an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains ongoing. Murphy, who was widely known for his fitness advice, looksmaxxing content, and viral prank videos, had amassed a large global following over the years.

According to Thai authorities, Murphy was found on July 7 in a lake located within a luxury housing estate in the Bang Phli District of Samut Prakan Province. Officials said his body was recovered approximately 20 metres from the shoreline near the property he had been renting. Police are treating the case as a suspected drowning while continuing to examine the events leading up to the incident.
Reports indicate that police were alerted around 3 p.m. after receiving complaints about a foreign national behaving erratically inside the residential complex. Responding officers were initially unable to locate Murphy. Investigators later learned that he had allegedly vandalised his rented home by splashing paint throughout the property before running toward the nearby lake.
Authorities also reviewed footage reportedly captured by a local resident, which allegedly showed Murphy acting unusually before entering the water. Witnesses told investigators that he appeared physically exhausted before disappearing beneath the surface. The lake is believed to be around 10 metres deep, preventing bystanders from attempting a successful rescue.
News of Murphy’s passing was first shared by fellow fitness creator Tony Huge, who lives in Thailand and had frequently collaborated with him. Huge revealed that the pair had filmed together less than two weeks before the tragedy and described Murphy as someone deeply interested in spirituality, consciousness, and philosophical ideas.
Murphy’s 22-year-old girlfriend reportedly told investigators that she had never witnessed him using drugs. However, she said he had recently begun displaying unusual behaviour and sudden outbursts of anger. According to her statement, Murphy damaged their rented home while she was asleep on the night before the incident.
Known online for his viral “fake shirt” prank videos, Connor Murphy later expanded his content into bodybuilding, fitness coaching, and the growing looksmaxxing trend, which focuses on improving physical appearance through grooming, lifestyle changes, and cosmetic enhancements. Over the course of his career, he built an audience of more than two million YouTube subscribers, becoming one of the platform’s most recognizable fitness personalities.
In recent years, Murphy’s content shifted toward discussions about spirituality, consciousness, and psychedelics, a change that prompted concern among some followers who noticed a marked difference in his online persona. As authorities continue their investigation, fans across social media have been paying tribute to the influencer and expressing shock over his untimely death.
