Excitement is reaching fever pitch among fans of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay as they prepare for the release of his final film, Jana Nayagan, on July 23. Sources have confirmed that ticket bookings in Tamil Nadu will officially open on Sunday, while advance bookings have already commenced in neighbouring Karnataka.
Industry sources said the film is slated for a massive global release across more than 30 countries, making it one of the biggest Tamil film releases in recent years.
Producer Venkat K. Narayana had earlier told NDTV that the makers were targeting a worldwide release on approximately 7,000 to 8,000 screens, underlining the film’s enormous scale.
Karnataka Sees Early Bookings
Advance ticket sales opened in Karnataka on Wednesday morning, with the first shows scheduled for 6 am on July 23, according to listed show timings.
As seen during previous Vijay releases, fans from Tamil Nadu’s border districts, including Hosur and Krishnagiri, are expected to travel to Karnataka to watch the earliest screenings before shows begin in their home state.
Vijay’s New Title Card
According to sources, Jana Nayagan will feature a significant change in Vijay’s on-screen introduction.
Instead of the familiar “Thalapathy Vijay”, the film’s title card is expected to introduce him as “Tamil Nadu CM Vijay.”
Sources said the change reflects Vijay’s current position as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. However, the film’s producers, KVN Productions, have not officially confirmed the report.
Runtime Extended After Re-Certification
The latest update on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) website shows that Jana Nayagan has been re-certified following the addition of new footage.
The revised runtime now stands at 3 hours, 3 minutes and 52 seconds.
According to sources, the increase in duration is primarily due to the inclusion of Vijay’s new title card, although no official statement has been issued by the production house regarding the modification.
One of the Year’s Biggest Releases
With record-breaking anticipation, worldwide distribution across dozens of countries and Vijay’s final appearance on the big screen, Jana Nayagan is expected to be one of the biggest Indian film releases of the year.
The opening of ticket bookings in Tamil Nadu is likely to trigger an intense rush among fans eager to secure first-day, first-show tickets for the much-awaited release.
