Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has officially begun filming Ragini 3, marking her debut in one of Balaji Motion Pictures’ most successful horror franchises. According to Variety India, the actress is currently in London, where the first shooting schedule of the upcoming horror thriller is underway.
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Ragini 3 is being developed as a theatrical horror entertainer, promising a suspense-driven cinematic experience. While the filmmakers have kept the storyline tightly under wraps, production has now commenced with the overseas schedule.
London Schedule Kicks Off Production
Principal photography for Ragini 3 has begun in London, with additional shooting planned across multiple locations in the coming months.
Although plot details remain confidential, the film is expected to stay true to the franchise’s signature blend of supernatural horror, mystery and psychological suspense. Tamannaah’s casting also marks her first appearance in the long-running Ragini series.
A Successful Horror Franchise Returns
The franchise began with Ragini MMS in 2011, directed by Pawan Kripalani and starring Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala. The film emerged as a surprise box office success and established itself as one of India’s notable horror thrillers.
Its sequel, Ragini MMS 2, released in 2014, featured Sunny Leone, Parvin Dabas, Sandhya Mridul, and Divya Dutta. The film became widely popular, with the song “Baby Doll” turning into one of the biggest chartbusters of the year.
The franchise later expanded into the digital space with Ragini MMS Returns, which premiered in 2017 and returned with a second season in 2019. The web series starred actors including Riya Sen, Karishma Sharma, Divya Agarwal, and Sunny Leone, continuing the franchise’s mix of horror, suspense and mystery.
Targeting a 2027 Theatrical Release
According to Variety India, the makers are aiming for a 2027 theatrical release for Ragini 3. While an official release date has not yet been announced, filming is expected to continue over the coming months before the movie heads into post-production.
With Tamannaah Bhatia leading the cast and Balaji Motion Pictures reviving one of its most recognizable horror brands, Ragini 3 is shaping up to be one of the anticipated Bollywood horror releases of 2027.
