Producer Amit Jani has made a bold announcement about his controversial film Kala Hiran amid its ongoing legal dispute with Salman Khan.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jani claimed that the film will release in 8,000 theatres worldwide, even as the matter continues to be heard in the Delhi High Court.

Sharing an update after Wednesday’s hearing, Jani stated that Salman Khan did not receive any interim relief from the court and that there was no stay on the film’s release. He added that the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 6, expressing confidence that the project will move forward despite the legal challenge.
In another post, Jani asserted that courts are not influenced by celebrity status or glamour. He further claimed that no individual could stop Kala Hiran from reaching audiences and reiterated that the film is planned for a simultaneous worldwide release across 8,000 cinemas.
The controversy stems from Kala Hiran being based on Salman Khan’s 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The actor had approached the Delhi High Court seeking to restrain the film’s release, alleging unauthorized use of his identity and personality rights.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the Delhi High Court observed that the film has not yet been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for certification. Justice Jyoti Singh deferred the hearing after noting that a rejoinder filed by Salman Khan was not on record.
According to submissions made before the court, the filmmakers assured that Kala Hiran would not be sent to the CBFC before July 6, the date of the next hearing. With the legal battle still underway, the future of the film’s release remains subject to the court’s proceedings.
