Actor Mouni Roy has become the latest celebrity to speak out against intrusive paparazzi behaviour after a video of her asking photographers to stop filming went viral on social media.
The incident comes just days after actor Zareen Khan criticised paparazzi for allegedly asking her to change her outfit in front of them. Now, Mouni’s reaction has sparked another debate about celebrity privacy and personal boundaries.
Mouni Roy Tells Paparazzi to Stop Recording
The incident took place on Tuesday night when Mouni Roy stepped out in Mumbai to meet a few friends.
As she walked towards her car, several photographers gathered around the vehicle and continued clicking pictures from close range. Even after she got inside the car, the cameras remained focused on her.
Initially, Mouni stayed quiet. However, she soon appeared visibly uncomfortable as photographers continued filming her.
Unable to hide her frustration, the actor pointed her finger towards the photographers and firmly said, “Band karo” (Stop it).

She then posted on her story:
"Don’t pap me ever pl. i have not called you guys for long enough. Promise to love and respect you but not call you. Please never come for me ever. Would be grateful. So next time anyone sees me papped I haven’t called… pic.twitter.com/6473sE8vNj
Despite her request, the cameras continued recording.
Just before her car drove away, Mouni repeated, “Band karo,” making it clear that she wanted the photographers to stop filming.
Meanwhile, a few members of the paparazzi were heard telling others, “Photos mat lo, woh mana kar rahi hain” (Don’t take pictures, she’s asking us to stop).
Video Triggers Debate on Celebrity Privacy
The video quickly spread across social media, with many users discussing whether celebrities deserve greater privacy when they clearly express discomfort.
Several social media users supported Mouni Roy, saying photographers should respect a person’s request to stop filming. Others pointed out that public figures often face constant attention but still have the right to set personal boundaries.
The incident has once again highlighted the ongoing conversation around paparazzi culture and the balance between public interest and personal privacy.
Comes Days After Divorce Announcement
Mouni Roy has also been in the news recently following the announcement of her separation from husband Suraj Nambiar.
The actor shared a joint statement on Instagram confirming that the couple had decided to part ways.
In the note, Mouni wrote that they were saddened by the unnecessary attention surrounding their personal lives and requested everyone to respect their privacy during this difficult phase.
She stated that they had decided to separate amicably and were taking time to deal with the situation privately.
Mouni also urged media organisations and social media users not to spread false stories or engage in unnecessary speculation.
She added that, despite the separation, the friendship they shared would always remain special.
