Netflix has quietly reintroduced complimentary trial subscriptions for eligible new users in select regions, with some Indian users spotting a 30-day free offer during account registration.

Netflix appears to be reviving one of its most popular sign-up perks by offering free trial subscriptions to select new users, nearly six years after discontinuing the feature globally.

The streaming giant has confirmed that eligible customers in certain countries may receive a complimentary trial while creating a new account. The offer is not available to everyone and depends on factors such as the user’s account, device, and location.

Netflix Free Trial Returns

According to Netflix’s Help Centre, the free trial option is automatically displayed during the sign-up process if an account qualifies for the promotion. Users who do not see the offer are currently not eligible.

Although Netflix has not officially announced the return of free trials in India, reports indicate that some new users have already begun receiving the promotion. Gadgets 360 independently verified that a “Try 30 days for ₹0” offer appeared while creating a new Netflix account using a previously unused email address.

Interestingly, the trial period is not the same for every user. While some new subscribers are being offered a 30-day free trial, others have reported seeing a 15-day trial instead. This suggests Netflix may be conducting an A/B test to evaluate which promotional strategy works better for attracting new subscribers.

Netflix discontinued its widely used 30-day free trial around 2020 after years of offering it worldwide. The latest move indicates the company may be reassessing whether free access can encourage more users to become paying subscribers.

How to Check If You’re Eligible for the Free Netflix Trial

If you want to see whether you’re eligible for the offer, follow these steps:

  • Visit the Netflix website or open the Netflix mobile app.
  • Create a new account using an email address that has never been used with Netflix.
  • During registration, check whether you see a “Try 30 days for ₹0” or “15-day free trial” banner.
  • Choose your preferred subscription plan.
  • Add a valid payment method, such as a debit card, credit card, or supported UPI option.
  • Complete the registration and begin streaming immediately.

Important Reminder

Users should remember that Netflix enables AutoPay by default. This means your selected subscription plan will automatically renew and your payment method will be charged once the free trial ends unless you cancel the subscription before the trial period expires.

While the return of free trials appears to be limited for now, the move could signal a broader rollout if Netflix finds the experiment successful.
