Actor Ram Kapoor made an emotional and deeply personal revelation during the latest episode of Lock Upp. The popular television actor shared that he was sexually abused when he was just 13 years old while studying at a boarding school.
Ram revealed the incident as part of a task on the reality show after he was marked “At Risk.” Until now, he had never spoken publicly about the traumatic experience. He said that only his wife, Gautami Kapoor, knew about it.
His confession left fellow contestants emotional and started an important conversation about childhood trauma and healing.
Ram Kapoor Shares What Happened at Boarding School
Ram Kapoor said the incident happened when he was studying in Class 8 at a boarding school. According to him, students often gathered in the dormitories after classes to chat, joke around, and spend time together before going to sleep.
Recalling the painful memory, Ram said he was sitting on his bed with a student from Class 10. They were talking and having fun like they usually did.
However, the older student suddenly touched him inappropriately under the blanket.
Ram said nearly 30 to 40 students were present in the dormitory at that time. Therefore, he froze and could not react immediately.
“I was 13 years old when I was molested in school. Till today, only my wife Gautami knows about it. I have never spoken about this publicly,” Ram said.
He further explained that he felt confused and did not know how to respond. He wondered whether he should shout or remain silent. After gathering courage, he finally told the student that he did not like what was happening. The older student immediately stopped and walked away.
The Incident Left a Lasting Impact
Ram Kapoor said the incident changed him completely. He admitted that he became quiet and emotionally affected after what happened.
“I became different after that. I became silent and traumatised,” he shared.
However, Ram also revealed that the older student later realised his mistake. According to the actor, the boy repeatedly apologised and tried hard to help him recover from the emotional pain.
Ram said the apology made a difference in his healing process.
“It’s weird, but the person who caused the trauma helped me come out of it and we became good friends. Credit goes to him because he put in a lot of effort,” he said.
Only Gautami Kapoor Knew About the Truth
Ram Kapoor revealed that he had carried this painful memory for decades without discussing it publicly.
He said even his parents and children were unaware of the incident.
“Neither my parents nor my children know about it. Gautami alone knows it,” the actor shared.
He admitted that speaking about it on national television brought back painful emotions. Even so, he felt it was important to finally tell his story.
Ram Kapoor Explains His Healing Journey
While reflecting on the experience, Ram said he does not carry anger towards the other student today. Instead, he believes both of them were teenagers dealing with emotions they did not fully understand.
According to Ram, he was 13 while the other student was around 15 years old.
He said the student sincerely apologised several times and worked hard to help him overcome the trauma. As a result, Ram eventually found peace.
“I can feel the trauma now because I am talking about it, but I don’t wish this to happen to anyone. Please don’t get me wrong,” he said.
Ram also spoke about how the experience shaped his perspective. He explained that it helped him become more accepting and understanding of people from different backgrounds. However, he made it clear that no child should ever go through such an experience.
He Wonders How His Children Will React
Ram Kapoor also revealed that he has never discussed this chapter of his life with his children.
Now that the episode has aired, he wonders what they will think after hearing his confession.
The actor said he does not know how he will answer if they ask why he shared the truth with the entire country before telling them personally.
