Rhea Chakraborty Says She Is Single

When asked whether she was looking for a partner, Rhea said she is not actively seeking a relationship at the moment. However, she admitted that companionship is something she would value in the future.

“I don’t really have a wish at the moment. But companionship would be nice at some point. I think… evolved. If I had to pick one word, it would be ‘evolved’,” she said, describing the kind of partner she would like to have.

‘I Can’t Marry Before My Brother’

The conversation also turned to marriage, where Rhea joked that she would not tie the knot before her younger brother.

“I can’t marry before him. He is my younger brother,” she said.

Showik immediately responded with a smile, saying, “Shaadi kara ke karunga na (I’ll get married after she is married),” leading to a light-hearted exchange between the siblings.

Rhea Reflects On Life After Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death

The interview also touched upon the difficult period that followed the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020.

During the investigation into the actor’s death, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested both Rhea and Showik in connection with a drug-related case. Rhea spent 28 days in Mumbai’s Byculla prison, while Showik remained in custody for nearly 90 days.

Looking back at that phase, Rhea said the emotional impact has never fully gone away.

“It’s not something that you can truly get over. It’s trauma. It stays in your body, if not in your mind,” she said.

Showik Says Life Changed Overnight

Showik also spoke about how dramatically his life changed after 2020.

He recalled that before the controversy, he was focused on his education and planning his future.

“Then everything went south. No one can predict these things. Life just takes you completely by surprise,” he said.

According to Showik, it took the family nearly four to five years to begin rebuilding their lives.

“Even now, there are some days when you think, ‘This happened to me’,” he added.

Siblings Speak About Living With PTSD

Both Rhea and Showik revealed that they continue to experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Describing the lingering effects, Showik said even ordinary situations can trigger painful memories.

“I still have PTSD. Sometimes a random doorbell rings and it takes me back. There was so much chaos at that time that every doorbell made us feel like someone was coming after us,” he said.

Rhea echoed her brother’s sentiments, saying therapy has become an important part of coping with the trauma.

“As Showik was saying, there’s PTSD. You do your therapy and you deal with it,” she said.

Background Of The Case

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence in June 2020. His death triggered multiple investigations by central agencies, including the Narcotics Control Bureau, which launched a probe into alleged drug-related activities linked to the case.

During the investigation, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested and spent 28 days in judicial custody, while her brother Showik remained in custody for nearly 90 days.

In the latest interview, both siblings said the experience continues to affect them years later, even as they focus on rebuilding their personal and professional lives.
