Salman Khan’s much-awaited film Maatrubhumi may face a further delay, with reports suggesting that the film’s theatrical release could be pushed to 2027. The movie, which stars Salman Khan alongside Chitrangada Singh, has reportedly encountered hurdles related to content approval and references involving China.

According to reports, the Ministry of Defence has raised certain concerns regarding aspects of the film. While discussions are reportedly underway to resolve the issues, industry sources believe that securing an ideal release date could become challenging due to the already packed theatrical calendar.
A trade source reportedly stated that even if the concerns are resolved soon, finding a suitable release window may be difficult as several major dates have already been occupied by other films. The source also highlighted Salman Khan’s approach toward film releases, stating that the actor generally avoids unnecessary clashes and respects other filmmakers’ release plans.

Industry insiders have suggested that a Dussehra release could be a possible option if all issues are cleared in time. With Dussehra falling on October 20, the holiday period could provide the film with an extended weekend advantage. Reports also suggest that with fewer major releases expected afterward, Maatrubhumi could benefit from a favourable theatrical window.
The film was previously announced under the title Battle of Galwan before being renamed Maatrubhumi. Director Apoorva Lakhia had earlier explained that the title change was not a sudden decision. According to him, both titles had been registered from the beginning, but as the story developed, the makers felt the film represented more than a single battle.
The director stated that the film’s core theme focuses on humanity, empathy, and the unseen struggles faced by soldiers rather than only a specific military conflict.
Maatrubhumi remains one of Salman Khan’s most anticipated upcoming projects, with fans eagerly waiting for an official release update. The makers are expected to announce further details once the reported concerns are resolved and a final release strategy is decided.
