The FIFA World Cup 2026 final delivered more than just football, as fans witnessed the tournament’s first-ever official halftime show during the title clash between Spain and Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Inspired by the NFL’s iconic Super Bowl halftime entertainment, the performance marked a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup.
Curated by British rock band Coldplay, the 27-minute spectacle featured an all-star lineup including Shakira, BTS, Justin Bieber, Madonna and Burna Boy, offering a blend of global music and high-energy performances.
Shakira grabbed the spotlight with a performance of Dai Dai, the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2026, alongside Burna Boy. The Colombian superstar dazzled in a custom Roberto Cavalli gown featuring vibrant pink and yellow hues, feather detailing, bold cut-outs and a flowing silhouette. Completing the look with her signature curly hair and a matching pink microphone, Shakira delivered one of the night’s most memorable performances.
K-pop sensation BTS also electrified the stage despite their packed touring schedule. Fresh from performances in Paris as part of their Arirang world tour, RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook reunited for a dynamic rendition of their global hit Dynamite. The group performed in coordinated custom red outfits featuring jerseys and leather jackets embroidered with the BTS logo.
The performance added another milestone to BTS’ long-standing association with football. The group previously collaborated with Hyundai on the “Goal of the Century” campaign, while Jung Kook became the first South Korean artist to perform at a FIFA World Cup event during the opening ceremony of the 2022 tournament in Qatar with the official song Dreamers.
The inaugural halftime show introduced a new entertainment format to football’s biggest stage, combining world-class music with the excitement of the FIFA World Cup final and creating a memorable experience for fans across the globe.
