The Samajwadi Party chief criticised the government over the NEET controversy
July 20, 2026: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday criticised the Centre over the NEET controversy and accused the government of ignoring the concerns of students and protesters. Questioning the government’s accountability, Yadav asked whether such governance reflected the vision of “Amrit Kaal” and said the voices of children and young people should be heard, particularly amid allegations of irregularities in the NEET examination process.
Yadav also expressed support for ongoing protest movements and alleged that demonstrators had faced pressure and action from authorities in recent weeks. He maintained that issues affecting students and the public deserved serious attention and called for greater accountability from the government over matters related to education and governance.
Meanwhile, the government appealed to opposition parties to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament during the Monsoon Session, stating that several Bills were ready for discussion. It warned that repeated disruptions could result in the loss of valuable parliamentary time and adjournments. The Opposition, however, said it wanted meaningful discussions on public issues and accused the government of being unprepared to address concerns affecting citizens.
