Actress Shehnaaz Gill has found herself at the centre of a social media controversy after a clip from one of her recent interviews went viral on Reddit. The actress, who is currently promoting her upcoming Punjabi film Ishqnama, faced criticism after her remarks about therapy were perceived by many users as dismissive of mental health support.
During an interview, Shehnaaz was asked by a fan whether she attends therapy. Responding with a smile, she said that she personally does not feel the need for therapy and remarked that it is “needed by those who act arrogant” around her. She further added that people who think too highly of themselves are the ones who require therapy, while she believes she does not.
The clip quickly spread across Reddit and other social media platforms, where several users criticised the actress for what they described as an insensitive and uninformed take on mental health. Many pointed out that therapy is a valuable form of professional support and should not be mocked or misunderstood.
One Reddit user wrote that if someone is not well-informed about therapy, they should avoid making sweeping statements about it. Another commented that Shehnaaz often makes controversial remarks, while others questioned her understanding of mental health and emotional well-being.

At the same time, some social media users argued that Shehnaaz may have been speaking only about her personal experience rather than discouraging therapy altogether. However, the majority of reactions online criticised the wording of her comments and expressed concern over the message such statements could send to her large fan base.
As the debate continues online, Shehnaaz Gill has not issued any clarification or responded publicly to the criticism surrounding the viral video.
