Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has warmly responded after Hollywood star Matt Damon expressed his long-standing desire to work with him. During The Odyssey press conference in Mumbai, Damon revealed that missing out on Kapur’s 2002 film The Four Feathers remains one of his biggest career regrets, adding that he hopes to collaborate with the acclaimed Indian director someday.

Reacting to Damon’s heartfelt remarks in an interview, Shekhar Kapur praised the Oscar-winning actor’s talent and emotional depth. “I don’t think there is a filmmaker in the world who wouldn’t give their right arm to work with an actor who has as much emotional depth as Matt Damon,” Kapur said.

The filmmaker also recalled one of Damon’s most iconic performances in Good Will Hunting. Referring to the emotional scene with Robin Williams, Kapur said he has watched the moment countless times and is moved to tears every single time. “Who can ever forget his famous scene with Robin Williams, ‘It’s not your fault.’ I must have watched it over a thousand times,” he added.

Hinting at a possible future collaboration, Kapur wrote, “Events move between the past, present and the future… while time is created in our imagination… so it’s time, Matt, that we finally collaborate.” His response has excited fans, who are now hoping to see the filmmaker and actor join forces on a future project.

At The Odyssey press conference, Matt Damon was asked which Indian filmmaker he would most like to work with. Without hesitation, the actor named Shekhar Kapur and recalled that he was originally supposed to star in The Four Feathers. However, he had to step away from the film due to scheduling conflicts, reportedly because of commitments to the Bourne franchise.

Sharing his regret, Damon said, “Everyone wanted to collaborate with Shekhar Kapur. I remember when I couldn’t do The Four Feathers… I was really upset about that. That’s like a 20-year-old little debt I’ve been carrying around in my pocket.”

With both Matt Damon and Shekhar Kapur publicly expressing their admiration for each other’s work, fans are now eagerly waiting to see whether the long-awaited collaboration finally becomes a reality.
