The controversy surrounding the title of Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film Eetha has reportedly been resolved, with the family of legendary Lavani artiste Vitthabai Narayangaonkar expressing satisfaction after discussions with the filmmakers. According to reports, the film’s team is now planning a visit to Narayangaon before the movie’s theatrical release on August 28.

Director Laxman Utekar reportedly spoke with Vitthabai Narayangaonkar’s family to explain the reasoning behind the film’s title. The filmmaker clarified that “Eetha” was a name by which the celebrated Lavani performer was affectionately known in rural Maharashtra, making it a fitting title for the biographical drama. Following the conversation, the family reportedly withdrew its objections.

Vitthabai’s grandson, Mohit Narayangaonkar, said the family was satisfied with the explanation and appreciated the way the film portrays the Tamasha and Lavani communities. He added that the film presents their cultural heritage in a positive light and that the family no longer has any issues with the title.

Mohit also revealed that Shraddha Kapoor and members of the Eetha team are expected to visit Narayangaon before the film’s release. He shared that he had requested the makers to hold the film’s first premiere in Narayangaon, which is widely regarded as the spiritual home of Tamasha. According to him, director Laxman Utekar responded positively and assured the family that the team would visit the village ahead of the release.

The planned visit was also reportedly confirmed by Babasaheb Patil, State President of the Film and Cultural Department of the Nationalist Congress Party, who said Shraddha Kapoor and Laxman Utekar are expected to meet the family, although the final schedule is yet to be announced.

The title had initially sparked debate after questions were raised over why the biopic was named Eetha instead of directly using Vitthabai Narayangaonkar’s name. However, the artist’s eldest daughter, Mangala Bansode Karavadikar, later clarified that the family had no objection, explaining that “Eetha” was a name by which her mother was fondly known during her performances in rural villages.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Eetha chronicles the life and legacy of legendary Lavani icon Vitthabai Narayangaonkar. The biographical drama stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role alongside Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on August 28, 2026.
