Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan could finally be heading to theatres this July, according to industry reports. The action entertainer has been one of the most anticipated Tamil films, especially as it is expected to be Vijay’s final movie before stepping away from acting to focus on politics.

As per sources, the film’s long-pending CBFC clearance is likely to be resolved soon, prompting the makers to consider a theatrical release later this month. However, the production team has not officially announced a release date, and fans are still awaiting confirmation.

Originally, Jana Nayagan was scheduled to hit cinemas during Pongal in January 2026. The release was postponed after the film, which had been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in December 2025, was referred to a Revising Committee under Rule 24 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, delaying its certification.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features a star-studded cast including Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, and Gautham Vasudev Menon. The project has generated massive buzz ever since it was announced, with fans eager to witness Vijay’s final big-screen outing.

Earlier this year, production house KVN Productions had expressed disappointment over the postponement, stating that the decision was due to unavoidable circumstances beyond their control. The makers also thanked fans for their patience and assured them that a new release date would be announced at the earliest.

With reports suggesting that the certification process is nearing completion, expectations are once again running high. If the film receives its CBFC clearance soon, Jana Nayagan could finally make its long-awaited theatrical debut in July.
