Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay’s much-awaited final film, Jana Nayagan, is set for a grand theatrical release on July 24, with audiences in the United Kingdom getting to watch the movie in its original, uncut version. The update has generated excitement among fans, especially after the film underwent multiple modifications before receiving certification for its Indian release.

UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment announced that Jana Nayagan has been awarded a 15 rating in the United Kingdom without any edits. Sharing the news on X, the distributor stated that the film would release “uncut” and “exactly as it was meant to be seen,” highlighting that international audiences would experience the complete version of Vijay’s final film.
The announcement quickly went viral on social media, with fans celebrating the update by sharing Vijay’s iconic movie moments and expressing excitement for the overseas release. Many also hoped that the uncut version would eventually be made available on OTT platforms so viewers in India could watch the original cut after its theatrical run.
In India, Jana Nayagan recently received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after several edits and modifications. Production house KVN Productions confirmed the certification on social media, announcing that the film had been cleared for theatrical release. Earlier, the makers had reportedly expected a UA 16+ certification before the board recommended multiple changes.
The film’s release was delayed by nearly seven months after facing certification hurdles. Reports suggest that objections raised during the examination process resulted in the project being referred to the revising committee. The makers also reportedly approached the court before the film was eventually cleared with an A certificate.
According to reports, the CBFC directed the makers to remove or modify several references, including those allegedly linked to Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The protagonist’s reported name, “Thalapathy Vetri Kondan,” abbreviated as TVK, is expected to be altered. Several dialogues, character names, visuals, and certain expletives were also reportedly edited as part of the certification process.
With Vijay now serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, reports also suggest that the film’s opening title card has been updated. Instead of the familiar “Thalapathy Vijay,” the film is expected to introduce him as “The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay.”
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju in pivotal roles. As Vijay’s final film before fully dedicating himself to politics, Jana Nayagan remains one of the biggest and most anticipated Tamil releases of the year.
