Tom Holland has shared how his experience working with acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey had a major impact on the way he approached his upcoming Marvel film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
In a recent interview with GQ, Holland spoke about Nolan’s detailed and highly organized filmmaking style. According to the actor, the director arrives on set with a clear vision and has answers to every creative and technical question.
Holland said Nolan’s level of preparation was unlike anything he had experienced before. He explained that the filmmaker knows exactly what he wants and spends significant time planning before production begins.

The actor noted that Nolan prefers simplicity on set despite working on large-scale productions. Instead of relying heavily on last-minute decisions, he carefully plans scenes and finds the right shots through preparation and experience.
Holland admitted that this approach made him rethink how major blockbuster films should be developed. As a result, he pushed for a more structured process while working on Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
He said the team needed to understand the purpose of making the film beyond its commercial success. Rather than creating another sequel simply because the franchise is popular, Holland wanted everyone involved to be clear about the story they wanted to tell.
