Television actor Rohit Chandel has been arrested by the Mumbai Police after a 16-year-old girl accused him of allegedly stalking, repeatedly calling, harassing and assaulting her. The actor, known for his performances in Pandya Store and Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to reports, the 29-year-old actor was arrested by the Pant Nagar Police from his residence in Dahisar on July 10. Following his arrest, he was produced before a special POCSO court, which remanded him to police custody as the investigation continues.
As per the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant alleged that Chandel repeatedly contacted her using his personal mobile number as well as other phone numbers despite her objections. The complaint further states that on July 5, the actor allegedly intercepted the minor near her housing society, followed her, engaged in a verbal altercation, abused her and physically assaulted her.
Based on the allegations, police have registered a case under the POCSO Act as well as Sections 78 and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which relate to stalking and voluntarily causing hurt. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to ascertain the facts of the case.

A police official stated that action was taken following the complaint and that the accused was arrested in accordance with the investigation. Officials added that the probe remains ongoing and additional evidence is being examined.
As of now, Rohit Chandel and his representatives have not issued any public statement responding to the allegations or his arrest. The accusations remain under investigation, and no court has determined guilt.
Rohit Chandel is a familiar face in the Indian television industry, having portrayed Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store and Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal. He was most recently seen in the television show Sairaab.
