Kapil Dinkar has emerged as one of the biggest highlights of Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent Season 2 after winning the second episode with his entertaining mix of singing, humour and witty conversations. A serving constable with the Uttar Pradesh Police, Kapil impressed both the judges and the audience, eventually taking home a total prize of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Kapil made a memorable entry by joking about the show’s previous controversy, leaving Samay Raina surprised. When asked if he was merely dressed as a police officer, Kapil revealed that he is an actual Uttar Pradesh Police constable currently posted in Meerut. He shared that becoming a police officer was his mother’s dream, while singing has always remained his personal passion. He also mentioned that he is the only person in his department who has official permission to pursue music alongside his duties.
Apart from serving in the police force, Kapil is also an author. During the show, he revealed that he has already written three books and is currently working on eight more. He also spoke about Uttar Pradesh’s Mission Shakti initiative, describing it as an important programme focused on women’s safety, security and empowerment.
Kapil’s performance featured several light-hearted moments with the panel. When Haarsh Limbachiyaa jokingly asked him to arrest them if they ever committed a crime, Kapil instantly replied, “Aap jurm karoge hi kyun?” He also took a playful dig at Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, through a humorous song referencing the controversies surrounding the first season of the show.
His performance received a perfect 10/10 from Samay Raina and fellow panellists Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar, Haarsh Limbachiyaa and Balraj Singh Ghai. Even Kapil confidently rated himself 10 out of 10. He won Rs 1 lakh for his performance and earned an additional Rs 50,000 after correctly answering the bonus question.
Kapil has also revealed in previous interviews that he once auditioned for Akshay Kumar’s game show Wheel of Fortune after being approached by the actor’s team, although he was not selected. A passionate singer, he has often expressed his dream of collaborating with Yo Yo Honey Singh and has also shared several musical tributes to the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala on social media.
Following the episode’s release, India’s Got Latent shared Kapil’s performance online with the caption, “He had a song for everything.” Responding to the post, Kapil thanked the team with his trademark humour, writing that while people often say the police arrive late, this time they reached the show right at the beginning of the season.
