AAP leader alleges mass shift in Rajya Sabha MPs; no official confirmation yet

April 24, 2026: In a dramatic political development, Raghav Chadha on Friday claimed that more than two-thirds of Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party have decided to merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Addressing a press conference, Chadha said the group had submitted the required documents, including signed letters, to the Rajya Sabha Chairman to initiate the process.

Chadha alleged that the AAP had deviated from its founding principles and was no longer working in the national interest. Announcing his decision to part ways, he said he had dedicated years to building the party but now felt it had strayed from its core values. He also named leaders such as Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, and Swati Maliwal among those supporting the move.

However, there has been no official confirmation from the BJP, AAP leadership, or the Rajya Sabha Secretariat regarding the alleged merger. Political observers note that such a shift would have major legal and constitutional implications, and clarity is awaited as developments unfold.
