A 21-year-old man was found hanging near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Aalo, with police recovering a suicide note
July 7, 2026: A 21-year-old man was found hanging from a banyan tree near the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, on Tuesday morning. Police identified the deceased as Nitish Kumar Ram. West Siang Superintendent of Police Kardak Riba said the body was discovered at around 7:50 am. A suicide note, a mobile phone and a Bluetooth device were recovered from the spot.
According to police, Ram had been suffering from depression and anxiety. In the handwritten note, he apologised to his family for not being a good son and sought forgiveness from his parents, expressing regret over his academic performance. Authorities said the contents of the note indicated personal distress.
Police conducted a magisterial inquest, and the body has been kept in the mortuary. Officials said CCTV footage from a nearby government establishment confirmed that no foul play was involved. Based on the preliminary investigation, no criminal case has been registered, and police have ruled the death to be a case of suicide.
