More than 93,000 devotees have visited the Amarnath cave shrine in the first four days of the pilgrimage
July 7, 2026: The biggest batch of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, comprising 8,815 pilgrims, including 31 foreign nationals, departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Tuesday under tight security. Officials said the convoy included men, women, children, sadhus and sadhvis, with 3,989 pilgrims travelling via the Baltal route and 4,826 pilgrims taking the traditional Pahalgam route.
With this departure, 34,829 pilgrims have left Jammu for Kashmir since the pilgrimage began on July 2. Meanwhile, over 93,000 devotees have already offered prayers at the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath cave shrine, and the number is expected to cross the one-lakh mark shortly. The Bhagwati Nagar camp echoed with chants of “Bam Bam Bhole” and “Har Har Mahadev” as devotees began their journey.
The 57-day pilgrimage will continue until August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. Due to the heavy rush, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has requested unregistered pilgrims to postpone their travel for a few days, as all registration slots are booked till July 9. Authorities said only registered pilgrims will be allowed to proceed towards Kashmir until fresh quotas become available.
