Around 25 AIADMK MLAs have been housed at a Puducherry resort amid speculation that Vijay-led TVK is seeking support to form the government

May 7, 2026: Nearly 25-27 newly-elected MLAs of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have been accommodated at a resort in Puducherry amid growing speculation over possible political realignments in Tamil Nadu. The move comes as Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam seeks additional support to cross the majority mark in the Assembly.

Senior AIADMK leader KP Munusamy denied reports that the party was planning to support TVK, stating that no such decision had been taken. Former MLA S Semmalai also dismissed rumours of MLAs switching sides, asserting that all legislators remain loyal to party chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

The political buzz intensified after veteran leader KA Sengottaiyan joined TVK earlier this year and reportedly contacted former associates within AIADMK. However, party leaders maintained that any future political strategy or alliance decision would be taken solely by Palaniswami.
