AIMIM spokesperson Shadab Chauhan accused Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav of arrogance
June 23, 2026: Political tensions intensified ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections after AIMIM spokesperson Shadab Chauhan launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. In a social media post, Chauhan compared Akhilesh to Duryodhan from the Mahabharata, accusing him of rejecting political partnership proposals out of ego and ambition. He argued that AIMIM was seeking a fair political share based on representation but was being ignored by the Samajwadi Party leadership.
Referring to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s recent offer of an alliance in Uttar Pradesh, Chauhan said Owaisi had shown a “big heart” by proposing opposition unity to prevent the division of secular votes. He claimed that minority communities had trusted the Samajwadi Party for decades but had not received adequate development, educational opportunities, healthcare facilities, security, reservation benefits or justice in return.
Chauhan further warned that no opposition party could defeat the BJP alone and suggested that Akhilesh Yadav’s refusal to cooperate could weaken anti-BJP efforts in the state. The remarks have added a new dimension to pre-election political discussions in Uttar Pradesh. So far, the Samajwadi Party has not issued an official response to Chauhan’s comments, while AIMIM continues to push for a broader opposition understanding ahead of the polls.
