Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the proposed Institute for Transforming Arunachal Pradesh will help strengthen evidence-based policymaking

May 22, 2026: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday said the vision of establishing the Institute for Transforming Arunachal Pradesh is steadily progressing through close coordination between the state government and NITI Aayog. He described the proposed institution as an important step towards data-driven governance and strategic long-term development planning for the frontier state.

In a social media post, Khandu said the institute is being designed as a dedicated state-level policy think tank that would provide strategic direction and evidence-based policymaking tailored to Arunachal Pradesh’s unique geographical, cultural and economic conditions. He also thanked NITI Aayog member Dr Joram Aniya, CEO Nidhi Chhibber and other officials involved in the initiative for supporting the state’s developmental vision.

Officials said the proposed institute would function as a specialised policy and research body to assist the government in framing sustainable development strategies, monitoring key indicators and strengthening institutional governance. Arunachal Pradesh has recently focused on infrastructure expansion, border area development, tourism, hydropower, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment in collaboration with NITI Aayog.
