AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal says he will not appear before Delhi High Court judge Swarana Kanta Sharma

April 27, 2026: Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said he will not appear before Swarna Kanta Sharma, either personally or through his legal counsel, stating that he has lost faith in receiving justice in the ongoing matter. In a letter addressed to the judge, the former Delhi Chief Minister said his hope of getting justice had been “shattered” and that he would no longer participate in proceedings before her court.

Kejriwal also said he would follow what he described as “Gandhiji’s Satyagraha” and act according to his conscience. He added that while he would not attend further hearings before the judge, he would reserve the right to challenge any adverse order in the Supreme Court of India.

The development comes after the Delhi High Court earlier refused a plea by Kejriwal and others seeking Justice Sharma’s recusal from the excise policy case. The court had ruled that allegations of bias were not supported by evidence and stressed that judicial impartiality cannot be questioned based on perceptions alone. The case continues to be a major legal and political issue involving senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders.
