Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Seva Samiti postpones its press conference as devotees seek transparency

June 30, 2026: The alleged donation theft case linked to the Ayodhya Ram Temple has taken a fresh turn after the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Seva Samiti abruptly cancelled a scheduled press conference, fuelling further speculation over the ongoing investigation. Committee president Mahant Dharmdas Maharaj denied receiving any political pressure or phone call to cancel the briefing and said the organisation would present its position after a few days. He also expressed confidence that corruption could not take place under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The cancellation has intensified public attention as questions continue to surround the future of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

The investigation into the alleged donation theft remains active, with trust-linked officials, including Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, and Gopal Rao, continuing to face scrutiny. The Trust’s meeting, scheduled for July 6, is expected to discuss possible organisational restructuring and decisions regarding key office-bearers. Investigating agencies are also continuing to examine financial records and other evidence as part of the ongoing probe.

Meanwhile, devotees visiting the Ram Temple have voiced mixed reactions. While many pilgrims from states such as Karnataka, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh said they were unaware of the controversy, those familiar with the allegations demanded a transparent investigation and strict action against anyone found guilty. Several devotees stressed that donations offered at the temple represent the faith of millions and should be managed with complete accountability. With the cancelled press conference, the upcoming Trust meeting, and the continuing investigation, attention remains focused on whether administrative changes, resignations, or legal action will follow in one of the country’s most closely watched religious controversies.
