No injuries were reported after part of a balcony collapsed at a residential tower in Gurugram
July 9, 2026: A section of a second-floor balcony at the Imperia Esfera Phase-2 residential complex in Gurugram’s Sector 37D collapsed on Thursday morning, causing panic among residents. The incident took place at Tower E, where part of the balcony gave way and crashed below, leaving a section hanging. No injuries were reported, but police and local administration officials immediately reached the site, secured the area and launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
Residents alleged that the incident was the result of the builder’s negligence and claimed they had repeatedly raised concerns about poor maintenance and structural issues. They said protests had been held last month over the condition of the society and demanded an independent third-party structural audit of the entire complex. RWA president Hemant Kumar said the collapse could have caused a major tragedy if anyone had been standing below and confirmed that residents would file a police complaint while seeking an inquiry by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTP).
The incident comes amid heavy monsoon rainfall that has disrupted normal life across Gurugram. Continuous showers caused severe waterlogging and traffic congestion on major roads, including the Delhi-Jaipur Highway service lane, Sohna Road, Basai and Kadipur. Residents also reported several rain-related incidents, including a cyclist falling into an open sewer pit, a cow slipping into an excavation site and a school bus getting stuck on a damaged road, highlighting growing concerns over public safety during the monsoon.
