A domestic dispute allegedly led to a brutal midnight attack in Ballia, leaving two women dead and one man critically injured.
April 26, 2026: A shocking incident unfolded in Ballia where a man allegedly murdered his wife and mother-in-law and critically injured his father-in-law during a late-night attack. According to police, the accused, identified as Amit Kumar Gupta, is suspected to have carried out the assault following an ongoing domestic dispute. Authorities have formed multiple teams to track him down as he remains absconding.
The incident occurred in Hasanpur under the Nagra police station area, where the accused reportedly entered his in-laws’ house around 12:30 am by climbing onto the roof. He allegedly slit the throats of his wife Preeti Gupta (23) and her mother Sushila Devi (55) using a knife. When his father-in-law Antu Gupta (60) tried to intervene, he was also attacked and left critically injured.
Antu Gupta was first taken to a local hospital and later referred to a trauma centre in Varanasi due to his deteriorating condition. Police said the accused also attempted to strangle his sister-in-law before fleeing the scene. A case of murder has been registered, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Officials added that the couple had been married for five years, and the woman had been staying at her parental home for the past month.
