The BJP has announced 11 candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, nominating senior organisational leaders
June 4, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released its list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, fielding 11 leaders from Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Rajasthan and Odisha. The party’s selections include a combination of experienced politicians and organisational leaders, reflecting its focus on strengthening its presence in the Upper House.
Among the prominent names are former Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia and BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh. Poonia, a senior leader from the Jat community, has held several key positions within the party and currently serves as BJP in-charge for Haryana. He has also played an active role in election campaigns and organisational management across multiple states.
Tarun Chugh, who hails from Punjab, is regarded as one of the BJP’s key strategists and organisational leaders. Having worked closely with the party structure in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Telangana, Chugh has been entrusted with several crucial political assignments. His nomination, along with other senior leaders, underlines the BJP’s emphasis on rewarding organisational experience and strengthening its parliamentary team ahead of future electoral challenges.
